Greetings, I’m Sarah.

I’ve had over 4 years of tests for my ‘funny episodes’ (including two stays in Chalfont where they said Non Epileptic seizures). I was repeatedly told that it was anxiety and that I was overly concerned about the episodes. After collapsing and ending up in hospital recently they did an MRI and found a lesion on my brain. I’ve now been told that I have focal epilepsy with secondary generalisation caused by the lesion which may require surgery in the future.

At time of diagnosis I was having clusters of ‘funny episodes’ every night. Now I’ve started on Lamotrigine the episode frequency has diminished.

After 4 years of being told it was anxiety based, I’m struggling to believe it’s actually epilepsy. Obviously, I’m banned from driving which has had a massive detrimental impact on my life.

An epilepsy nurse suggested this course but there seems to be no local support available. I’ve just been told to take Lamotrigine and come back in 6 months. I’m finding the whole thing scary.
