I gave up work 8 years ago (in my mid-50s) due to memory problems which meant I could no longer do the job.
When I was diagnosed I was given a small ill-health retirement pension and have since relied on my husband’s income.
I would like to be working but it is only recently that my seizures have been well enough controlled, and I am now 65,
so it would be very hard to start again.
I do some voluntary work, which is very helpful, although sometimes frustrating as volunteers are often not taken seriously enough.
Or, alternatively, exploited. However, it is a lot better than nothing and I am so grateful that my seizures are controlled, at least for now.
So, although the work part was not relevant to me now, this session was more helpful in the confidence-building aspects.
