Hi everyone!

I’m Jemma and I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 1994 aged 11. I’ve had all kinds of seizures over the years, couple of hospital stays, but most of my life I’ve been well controlled on 400mg carbamazepine so I have been lucky.

More recently I’ve been having breakthrough seizures and tried different AED’s which had horrible side effects and didn’t stop the seizures.I’m now back of carbamazepine 600mg and am having almost daily partial seizures and had a tonic clonic last sunday – haven’t had one of them for more than a decade – forgot how sucky they are!! Over the last few years my Epilepsy has become more challenging and more overbearing on my daily life. So here I am, I’ve decided to do this course as I’m looking to better understand my own condition and learn some helpful skills to overcome the daily difficulties Epilepsy brings – physically and mentally.

It has been great to read the stories of all you Epilepsy Warriors out there! Wishing you all the best! Jemma
