learning

Hi Everyone, I’m Claire. Now in my 50’s, I’ve had Epilepsy all my life although it wasn’t diagnosed until I was about 10. I take Epilim and fortunately it seems mostly controlled. Information wasn’t readily available to a teenager in the 70s and I was told not to discuss my condition by my parents because they were scared for me. I’ve been a teacher for 30 years. Now I’d like to talk and learn more. I’d like to replace my childhood words like ‘feeling fizzly’ with a proper vocabulary and not feel that I don’t deserve to mention how things affect me. I would like to be less anxious and not just appear confident on the surface. I feel the profile of the condition needs raising for the sake of undiagnosed children and unrecognised symptoms. I am very grateful for the fact that my seizures are controlled and my heart goes out to those of you who are not in this position.
