Hello, my name’s Kate and I’ve had epilepsy since I was seventeen when I had three tonic clonic seizures. I’m now in my forties. Until several years ago my seizures were controlled but they came back and this time the right medication hasn’t been found. I now have focal onset partial seizures. I had to take a lot of time off work and lost my job, and then lost my flat as I could no longer pay the mortgage. I chose to join Epilepsy Action and to do this course in an effort to understand more about my epilepsy and to try to gain some feeling of control. I would love to be able to work again, to support myself and to feel independent.
