This was really informative. I now know that when my cat died from having a seizure a few years ago she had a Tonic seizure. That doesn’t sound like much does it, but I found it really helpful to be able to give it a name. I already knew a bit about my own seizures but have never felt that they have been fully explained or defined by my neurologist or epilepsy nurse. Having completed Week 2 I now feel sure that I used to have focal to bilateral tonic clonic seizures, and now have both focal aware and focal impaired awareness seizures and that I am post-ictal for several hours. It is also useful to know the old and current descriptions of things such as petit mal, partial or focal. In the past I have sometimes felt foolish when someone asks about my epilepsy and I haven’t felt entirely sure of the name of my seizures. I have sometimes felt confused or belittled by others, such as when a nurse asked about my seizures and told me off for describing an aura instead of a seizure (from what I’ve read today they are one and the same). Feeling fully informed means that I will have the confidence to clearly inform others of my true situation. Thank you.
