I’ve never passed my test so I don’t think I am distressed about not being able to drive as I could be. I had my very first seizure when I was having a driving lesson aged 17 which I think put me off it. It does, however, cause me major problems. I used to live in London which was great as the underground is so good – extensive network and reliable (a train every 3-5 minutes!). I had to leave though as I lost my job when my previously controlled seizures started again (thank you epilepsy) and could no longer afford to live there. Where I live now there is a bus service but it is pretty unreliable so I usually use taxis, but that is rather expensive so I have to minimise the number of trips out I make. I also don’t have a partner to reply on. So all in all it’s pretty restrictive.
On a more positive note, this session has given me some ideas about things I can do to improve safety so I hope that will make me feel more independent, thank you.
