Hi,

I’m Iona Ellen, 28, Lake District.

I was diagnosed with focal & tonic clonic seizures when I was 17years old (one week before my driving lessons!!)

It started having very small focals maybe one small month when I was around 13yrs however at the time we just shrugged out shoulders as it was just a few seconds of feeling “funny”.

When I was 15yrs I had a tonic clonic that was when we really noticed that it was not normal behaviour.

I was 18yrs and epilepsy really started taking over.I went from having a very small focal once a month to over 30 a day, tonic clinics all week and at least 1 a night.

I lost all contacts with my social life, sports hobbies etc.

I got an operation which has helped but I still have lots of seizures daily & nightly.

I have depression & eating disorder so I go to a horticultural mental health charity which help not only for my mental health but ways of living with epilepsy. They have helped a lot.

I’m looking forward to do this course 🙂
