My name is Joanne and I have had epilepsy since I was 3 years old, it comes from another condition called “Tuberous Sclerosis” and I turned 40 this year. I have had different types of epilepsy over the years and I am now suffering with focal and refractural epilepsy, I have since changed medication and it seems to be working much better than the other medications I have had with being in and out of hospital.
A few years ago I had a break down with my epilepsy and went really bad where I needed to be put in a coma on ICU and it was touch and go whether I would live so am so lucky to be alive now with the family and friends who love me for who I am, I got told about this course through my epilepsy nurse who has been really helpful so hope by doing it that it gives me the independence and confidence that I need to go places by myself and see friends who I have not seen since we got put into lockdown with this horrible virus what we all have to live through.
