The advice I’d give to someone who has been newly diagnosed as having epilepsy is: don’t look at this condition as a barrier it can help you in many ways and it can broaden your mind as well. Just read around it, get to know yourself a bit more, just keep thinking positive, you can do anything.
There is a positive aspect to epilepsy, it is quite an interesting phenomenon, seeing the way that firing of the neurons can affect both your physical abilities and the emotional and psychological aspects. It can affect your personality briefly. So if you think about it that way, and you think about it also in terms of it’s not particularly common, so in many ways you are quite unique.
Ask any questions however daft they seem. Even if you want to know “Does it matter if I take my medication five minutes late?” ask it, because if that’s something that’s worrying you, you’ll only get more stressed worrying about it.
