It was fair play to her, she told me straight away, very very early into the relationship. And I’ve got to be honest, I didn’t really think much about it. Because I didn’t really see it as a problem, because I’d met her for a few times, and I didn’t see anything wrong, in a way. There was just – Chris was Chris. I didn’t see the condition I just saw the person. And she did speak to me at great lengths about it, what she has to go through, what drugs she has to take. Again, it was – we just got on with it, and I never saw it as a problem.
The biggest one, I suppose, was whether we were going to have or try for a family, try for a baby. And we really had to sit down and weigh it up – you know, how would this affect you? And I think the honest answer was, look, we don’t even know if you can get pregnant, because she did actually say that she would never get pregnant! And we then just decided, let’s have a go. And I’m always one of these ones, that will take one step at a time. There’s no point thinking too far ahead because things can change rapidly and very quickly. So it was just, OK, let’s just do the first stage, and then we’ll think about the second stage later, then the third and the fourth.
Ben has been told as early as possible that Mummy has an epileptic condition. So he has to be aware that if Mummy is walking off in a strange direction, maybe can you think about just stopping her, sit her down somewhere, and just stay still. And if something gets more serious, that he actually now begins to understand that he may need to get an ambulance. So, luckily, he is quite understanding on that point.
Well, the memory loss – it’s not a very nice thing to have, obviously because you want to keep your memories. But sometimes she can be a bit devious and bring it to her own benefit – selective memory as they call it! And you say, “Oh, do you remember when we said we wanted to do that?”, and she’ll be going like, “No…”, and I’m like, “Ah, well, I remember telling you…”. Not very often, I must admit, but you know, sometimes you have a laugh about it!
