I find that triggers for my seizures are things like being overtired and stress, which can be very difficult to avoid! But I have also noticed, that I can go through a very stressful period, and it’s not while the stress is there, it’s afterwards when my body relaxes, and the last thing it does when it relaxes it that I have a seizure.

Stress and anxiety have always been a main part in my epilepsy, and also lighting. I’m very photosensitive, so stress and lights are not good for my epilepsy.

Only recently, in the past year or so, it was suggested that stress was triggering my seizures as I was having an exam period in the second year. I had a cluster of seizures, and I’ve not had clusters of seizures since. It’s nice to know there is something that’s triggering it off, so I can help myself by not getting so stressed and worked up. But at the same time, I think stress is something that is inevitable – it’s going to happen at some point.
